Filmmaker: Tani Hansen
Tani was bitten by the film bug when she was studying painting and drawing part time at Emily Carr and decided to try a film crossover course. Along with photographers Jun Keung Cheung and Ian Kerr, she made “The Mailbox Blues”, her first Super 8 film, out of concern for the gradual disappearance of tree frogs on the blueberry farm where she was living in Richmond. She obtained her BFA in film at Emily Carr after making three more shorts. Prior to art school, she also completed a MA in English in Britain and learned to speak Chinese while working as an English teacher in China. She currently runs a successful tutoring business for Chinese high school students in Vancouver.
