My Richmond Story: Community Digital Storytelling Project
My Richmond Story: Community Digital Storytelling is a new Festival outreach program produced by the Cinevolution Media Arts Society and supported through the Richmond Arts Centre and its new Media Lab.
This project is open to both Richmond residents and people living outside of Richmond.
All the digital stories collected during the project period will be screened and exhibited at the Richmond International Film & Media Arts Festival in July, and will be featured at the Festival website.

THREE WAYS TO TELL YOUR STORIES:
1) Submission:
People can submit one Video (5 min max, documentary, narrative, experimental, animation, music video) or one Photo story.
Video must be in DVD NTSC format.
People submitting photos are required to write one page max 200-word description of the story behind the photo.
Handwriting and ethnic languages are encouraged.

2) Live Recording @ Media Lab
The Media Lab at the Richmond Cultural Centre is open to the general public to drop in to record their stories in video and audio on a first come first served basis. Through this process, people can have hands-on experience with digital equipment and technology at no cost. Professional media artists of multiple languages will be present to facilitate the procedure.
Schedule
Fridays (10am – 12pm) —- May 6, 13, 20, 27, & June 3, 10, 17, 24, & July 1, 8
Sundays (11am – 4pm) – May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Sundays (11am – 1pm) — June 5, 12, 19, 26
3) Filmmaking Workshops @ Media Lab
Total 5 workshops will be led by professional filmmakers. Participants will learn the process of making a good quality film from script writing to editing. At the end of the workshops, participants will be able to create short films based on their own stories.
A special screening and community celebration will be held on July 23, 2011.
Workshop Time
1:30pm – 4:30pm on Sundays (June 5, 12, 19, 20, July 3)
Language
The workshops will be conducted mainly in English, with multilingual volunteers in presence to assist.
Number of Participants 10 max
Eligibility of Applicants
* Must be over 20 years old.
* Comfortable with computers.
* Be able to make commitment to the 5 workshops.
