New community initiative: My Richmond Story

Grab a camera, let’s tell our stories about Richmond together!

My Richmond Story is a new Community Digital Storytelling project produced by the Cinevolution Media Arts Society and supported through the Richmond Arts Centre and its new Media Lab.

This project is open to both Richmond residents and people living outside of Richmond.

The Project aims at engaging the people in the collection of individual, family and community stories, and the presentation of such stories in digital films and photos. These digital stories will form a crucial part of the collective/public memory and identity of Richmond.

All the digital stories collected during the project period will be screened at the Richmond International Film & Media Arts Festival in July.

How to participate in the project?

Please check here for Festival Submission Guidelines, Workshop Registration, and Deadlines.

New Festival Name and Logo Revealed

After 6-month strategic planning, we finally establish the Festival’s new name and direction.

We are very excited with this brand new identity and are eager to present you a fabulous new program this summer.

Your Kontinent is a variation of the name Urkontinent, one single large continent, a word coined by Alfred Wegener. This continent if it existed today would contain a multitude of ethnicities and thus be considered as a mosaic. This continent represents individual and collective perceptions of culture co-existing in one place. The deliberate choice to use “Your” instead of “ur” is to represent one’s individual perception of their continent or culture. The interpretation of culture can be either ones individuals or a collective interpretation.

Our new website is currently under construction, and will be launched at the end of May. During this period, we will continue using this site to host Festival’s information.
